Award-winning local producers
Award-winning Lockyer Valley producers will headline this year's Regional Flavours event, including the creator of all things cheese, gelato and sorbet, Emmo's Fine Foods.
Located near Mulgowie, Emmo's create a range of gourmet goat and cow dairy products, including fresh goat's milk, gelato, sorbet and cheese.
The well-known producer recently pocketed a swag of gongs at the Dairy Awards, held at the RNA Showgrounds, including gold for their famous Nannybert, a camembert-style goat's cheese. They also picked up silver for their marinated feta, while their fromage blanc was awarded bronze.
With a reputation of producing the finest organic food around and a bevy of awards up their sleeve, Bauer's Organic Farm will be another face at Regional Flavours.
They were awarded the Vogue Produce Awards Gold Medal for their sweet corn in 2009, as well receiving the silver medal at both the 2008 and 2009 Organic Expo in the category of Best Organic Food Product for their famous potatoes, once again judged by top chefs.
Also joining in are Schulte's Meat Tavern and Mormor Food. The team at Schulte's was awarded The Retail Excellence Award as well as the Processor Excellence Award, both of which are highly coveted awards amongst Queensland Independent butchers as setting the bench marks for the industry.
Mormor Food was recently announced as a medal winner at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. They also took home bronze medals for their products Vaxtkraft Parsley Vegetable Stock Concentrate and Vaxtktaft Coriander Vegetable Stock Concentrate.
Mayor Tanya Milligan said Council was thrilled to have such prestigious company representing the region at the Regional Flavours festival.
The Lockyer Valley has once again partnered with the event to deliver The Picnic Patch, where foodies can sample and purchase from the region's growers, while our award-winning producers will showcase an assortment of Lockyer Valley delights at the sunny picnic spot, found on the Little Stanley Street Lawns.
This year we are also thrilled to feature 9Dorf Farms, Seatonfire Chilli & Chocolate and Dunlop Apiaries for what is sure to be a stellar event, Mayor Milligan said.
Council will give attendees the chance to win a Gourmet Escape to the Lockyer Valley including tickets to an exclusive Cooking School event with Miguel Maestre. Valued at more than $1900, the prize includes two tickets to Miguel's cooking school on 22 October, overnight accommodation at Branell Homestead, helicopter transfers to the event with Pterodactyl Helicopters, a family farm tour of 9dorf Farms and a produce hamper from your favourite producers.

The free food festival will be held at Southbank on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 July from 10am - 5pm.
