Flavours of the Lockyer
Foodies will be spoilt for choice at the 2017 Regional Flavours festival, with the freshest and finest Lockyer Valley produce sure to once again take centre-stage.
As Queensland's signature food and wine event, there will be more than 80 market stalls and 90,000 visitors at the festival, held in the picturesque Southbank Parklands next month.
The Lockyer Valley has once again partnered with the event to deliver The Picnic Patch, where foodies can sample and purchase from the region's growers, while producers will showcase an assortment of Lockyer Valley delights at the sunny picnic spot, found on the Little Stanley Street Lawns.
Celebrity chef and Lockyer Valley Food Ambassador Alastair McLeod has designed this year's Paddock to Plate Picnic Menu, which features a deliciously warming chicken and winter vegetable soup with charred herb pesto and a hearty charred broccoli salad with goats cheese, crispy bacon and toasted seeds, inspired by everyone's favourite Caesar salad.
Food fans can also see Wild Canary and local produce advocate Glen Barratt showcase the region's produce on the Queensland Taste and Hunting Club stages.
Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan said the event was also an opportunity to meet Lockyer Valley producers, first-hand.
This year we are thrilled to feature Bauer's Organic Farm, 9Dorf Farm, Seatonfire Chilli & Chocolate, Dunlop Apiaries, Emmo's Fine Foods, Schulte's and Mormor Food.
These men and women are producing some of Queensland's best produce and gourmet goodies and this is a chance to get up close and personal and ask any questions you might have, Mayor Milligan said.
Council will give attendees the chance to win a Gourmet Escape to the Lockyer Valley including tickets to an exclusive cooking school event with Miguel Maestre. Valued at more than $1800, the prize includes: two tickets to Miguel's cooking school on 22 October, overnight accommodation at Branell Homestead, helicopter transfers to the event with Pterodactyl Helicopters, a family farm tour of 9dorf Farms and a produce hamper from your favourite producers.

The free food festival will be held at Southbank on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 July from 10am - 5pm and is a free event.
