Heritage Festival enjoyed by all
Strong crowds enjoyed a trip back in time at the Laidley Heritage Festival, held at the weekend.
Visitors and locals flocked to venues across Laidley for the two-day event, which Acting Mayor Tanya Milligan says was a huge success.
For the first time, horse and carriage rides were on offer and they proved to be a great hit, with hundreds enjoying the experience, Cr Milligan said.
It was obvious that everyone who attended was eager to immerse themselves in activities of yester-year and take a break from the business of everyday life.
With crowds from as far afield as Springfield, Ipswich and Toowoomba, the event is undoubtedly growing in popularity each year.
Das Neumann Haus was a hive of activity with market stalls, live music, delicious pancakes at Annie's Place Coffee Shoppe and more.
The youngsters, in particular, had great fun with face painting, a jumping castle, Clydesdale display and the circus workshop, which drew good crowds.
At the Laidley Pioneer Village, activities like sheep shearing, milking demonstrations, vintage car rides and the animal farm kept everyone happily occupied, Cr Milligan said.
With the Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Field Days just around the corner, there's no shortage of activities on in the region.
To be held over the weekend of 30 April - 1 May at the Gatton Showgrounds, the weekend is a chance to see heavy horses that built the nation.
The Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Field Days are sure to once again draw crowds from across the region and Australia-wide, as they do each year, Cr Milligan said.
Enjoy working exhibitions and displays of heavy horses in action, including decorated harness displays, working team ploughing, obstacle courses and ridden events like dressage.
Other activities will include a shoeing competition, wagon rides, pony rides, face painting, craft demonstrations and historic vintage vehicles.
