Local producers on show in Martin Place
The Lockyer Valley will take centre-stage tomorrow in Sydney's mecca, Martin Place.
Celebrity chef and Lockyer Valley Food Ambassador, Alastair McLeod, will show off his cooking prowess and the freshest local produce to launch the region's third visit to the renowned Sydney Royal Easter Show.
With local producers to include Schulte's, Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate, Mormor Food and Earth'd Out, Acting Mayor Tanya Milligan said it was a prime platform for producers to get huge exposure.
The Lockyer Valley is one of the top ten most fertile farming areas in the world and generates fresh and full-flavoured fruit and vegetables and gourmet goodies.
It will not only be an opportunity for our city counterparts to taste Alastair's outstanding cooking, but also see where the food they eat stems from.
We will be equipped with marketing collateral, including the Lockyer Valley Tourism Guide, a range of brochures and giveaways and will be able to answer any question, big or small, about the region, she said.
Martin Place will be transformed into all things country throughout the morning. As Alastair takes to the stage, members of the public will have the chance to see Fergie the Tractor and sit on hay bales while sampling scrumptious Lockyer Valley produce.
On the menu will include grilled chorizo, roasted tomato compote and rocket pesto; spiced pumpkin and coconut soup, crumbled feta and lime or caramelised figs and honey fromage blanc.
This kind of exposure, in the heart of Sydney, is guaranteed to make people stop and take note, Cr Milligan said.
Logistically the task is massive, but to gain this kind of exposure for our region and its producers is a real credit to everyone involved.
