Lockyer Valley signs up for Road Safety
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan is urging residents to jump on-board the 'sign up' campaign for this year's Queensland Road Safety Week.
To show their support for road safety, Queenslanders can take part in 'sign up for road safety' by creating a sign which shares a road safety message, taking a photo of it and sharing it on social media.
Mayor Milligan said she believed that road safety should be a priority for everyone each time they are on or near the road.
"Despite traffic volumes on our roads being greatly reduced during the COVID-19 restrictions, the number of lives lost on Queensland roads continues to rise," she said.
"We want all those travelling to, from and through the Lockyer Valley to make it to their destination safely."
Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein said the sign-up initiative was a great way to start the road safety conversation with your family, community group, business or school.
"Unfortunately, due to the current health guidelines, the normal Queensland Road Safety Week events and activities won't be taking place, but you can still get involved and show your support for safer Queensland roads," she said.
Delivered in partnership by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Police Service Queensland Road Safety Week will be held from 24 to 28 August 2020.
