Miguel wows cooking class attendees
How did you spend your Sunday? Twenty plus lucky devoted cooks spent theirs learning the tricks of the trade with one of the country's most prestigious celebrity chefs, Miguel Maestre.
The exclusive cooking class and sit-down lunch, held at Plainland, showcased some of Australia's freshest produce, grown right here in the Lockyer Valley.
Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan thanked the host of Channel Ten's The Living Room for offering this one-off opportunity in the Lockyer Valley.
This was an exclusive, hands-on opportunity to explore the stunning produce grown in the region and learn how to re-create these dishes in your own home.
Looking around the kitchen, it was clear just how much Miguel respects the produce he cooks with.
Everyone who attended raved about Miguel's passion and love of what he does and we thank him for giving us the chance to cook with Miguel', Mayor Milligan said.
Angela Jackwitz from Jak & Mo Taste Co, who took home two awards at the 2017 Lockyer Valley Business, Training & Apprenticeship Awards, described the day as fabulous, fun and lively.
It was more than I expected , a lovely experience.
I love food - food is life, so it was a great way to finish off an exciting weekend for me, she said.
Jennifer Barnes, chef at Sage on Hickey was also full of praise for the cooking school.
It has been an awesome day learning new skills in a great atmosphere.
Using local produce is one of my favourite things and I would highly recommend this day to anyone, she said.
