Revitalisation of the Gatton CBD

Have you noticed the gazebo in Gatton's Centenary Park is missing?

Not to fear - as the old gazebo is being replaced with a better quality and larger gazebo.

This, along with several other improvements, form part of the Gatton Revitalisation Project.

Following on from the success of the Laidley Futures Program, Lockyer Valley Mayor, Steve Jones, said Gatton was set for its own revitalisation.

The Laidley Futures Plan was designed to both stimulate growth and beautify the town and due to its outstanding success, the program has expanded to incorporate Gatton as well, he said.

We are trying to improve the economic and social vitality of the Gatton CBD through the implementation of a series of sub-projects or tasks over the coming years.

While this is a long-term vision for Council, there are a number of projects we can begin immediately.

These projects include:

• Cleaning and upgrading footways
• Refurbishment of street seating/benching, bollards and garden structures
• Investigating ornamental street lighting replacement
• Restoring gardens beds to improve their appearance
• Landscaping - improved visibility at roundabouts, including approaches and an improved appearance to the CBD

We are committed to improving the attractiveness of the region and these upgrades are a step towards this goal, Cr Jones said.
