Produce farmed in the Lockyer Valley is sold for more than $250 million each year, which goes to show why the region sports the title of Australia's Salad Bowl.

It's fun farming facts like these you can learn all about at this year's Ekka, where the Lockyer Valley will once again be on show.

Located in the Agriculture Pavilion, Lockyer Valley Regional Council's stand will be your one-stop shop for everything you need to know about the region.

And Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan says that list is endless.

Pop in and find out more about the region that produces the majority of Australia's winter vegetables, including sweet corn, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and pumpkins.

We'll be equipped with everything from vegetable facts to the must-see attractions and places to stay.

Best of all, learn all of this from locals - the people who live and work in the region, Mayor Milligan said.

There will also be plenty to experience for the youngsters. Follow the Ekka Learning Trail to find out more about the Lockyer Valley's role in supplying Australia's fresh produce and where the food they eat comes from.

It's vital our kids know where their food comes from. What they eat for dinner may be purchased from a chain supermarket, but there's a long road it takes before getting there and that often starts here, by our committed farmers in the Lockyer Valley.

Kids can learn all about this through some exciting games and fast facts.

They can also pick up some fun activity books, colouring-in sheets and other goodies to take home, Mayor Milligan said.

A visit to Council's stand will also mean you go into the running to win a food foragers weekend in the region including accommodation, farm tours and a produce hamper.
