Winners of the 2017 Business Awards
The Barn and Scotty's Garage take out top award at Lockyer Valley Business, Training and Apprenticeship Awards
They're tucked away in the rural Lockyer Valley community of Flagstone Creek and this year, The Barn and Scotty's Garage was awarded the coveted title of 2017 Business of the Year at the Lockyer Valley Business, Training and Apprenticeship Awards.
The rustic caf and garage, packed with 50's and 60's automotive memorabilia, also took out the Tourism Award in front of a packed Gatton Shire Hall on Saturday night.
Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan congratulated the husband and wife team, Scott and Sarah for bringing such a unique attraction to life.
The Barn and Scotty's Garage is a venue like no other and it certainly has the wow factor.
As a targeted destination venue, it really draws people in through the visual experience it offers, Mayor Milligan said.
Spanish cooking sensation Miguel Maestre hosted this year's event, much to the delight of the 400-plus crowd.
Miguel was an absolute hit on stage and kept everyone on their toes with his cheeky banter and engaging nature.
He had the entire audience captivated and we were honored to have him host this year's ceremony, she said.
Another winner on the night was Jak and Mo Taste Co, who took out not one but two major gongs.
Jak and Mo were not only awarded the People's Choice Award, but also the Food and Dining Award.
Their commitment to using local produce to create a menu centered on whole food is to be commended.
The region has fallen in love with the great food and atmosphere Jak and Mo provide and their love of health and wellbeing clearly speaks to the residents of Gatton and further afield, Mayor Milligan said.
This year's Mayor's Award went to a business that's dressing our region one lady at a timeHarry and Miss Tiff Boutique.
Mayor Milligan said this was a business not only committed to its customers, but the wider community too.
Harry and Miss Tiff Boutique recognise that not one size fits all and pride themselves on offering personalised service.
They also host and assist community events, supply prizes for community raffles and help tackle employment issues in the region.
They are worthy winners and I congratulate them on their passion to provide the best to the ladies of the Lockyer Valley, Mayor Milligan said.
