Full capacity at Grant Writing Workshop
It was a full house at Council’s free Grant Writing Workshop, held at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre last night.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the workshop provided attendees a huge confidence boost when it came to the grant application process.
“Successful grant writing comes from experience and practice and those volunteers and community group members in attendance were treated to the expertise of experienced local grant mentor Ann Bichel, who is exceptional at writing grants and has been responsible for bringing millions of dollars to the region through Council’s community capacity-building processes and personally.
“Hands-on grant writing training is proven to help people get more grant funding and more experienced grant writers use the skills they learn in our training to improve their approach to grants.
“This workshop offered so much information and will no doubt help our community groups and volunteers move their grant writing skills to the next level,” Mayor Milligan said.
Mayor Milligan said Ann provided an invaluable insight into what makes a grant submission stand out.
“Attendees learned to identify what funders were looking for and how best to answer questions, giving themselves the best chance of success.
“Grants are a great way to fund much-needed local infrastructure, events and other activities and we hope everyone who attended left with a better understanding of what’s needed in a grant application, how they can increase their chances of success and some of the grants they might be eligible for.
“Putting the spotlight on what makes a great grant application and developing the skills for success was the focus of the event, and we thoroughly enjoyed providing an overview of current grant programs, an opportunity to ask questions and a forum to enable industry networking,” she said.
