Local cemeteries home to new upgrades
The region’s cemeteries now sport a suite of new upgrades, adding value to the way the community honours and reflects on their loved ones.
Improvement works include the renewal and installation of seam strips, as well as the planting of additional trees.
Lockyer Valley Parks, Gardens and Cemeteries Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein said Council had renewed the concrete seam strips at the Laidley Cemetery and installed new seam strips at the Gatton Cemetery.
“Seam strips work to improve the stability of headstones,” Cr Holstein said.
“Seam strips were only recently installed at the Laidley Cemetery, which is why maintenance works to renew the strips were sufficient, whereas those at the Gatton cemetery needed replacing.
“In addition, forty Kauri Pines were planted in section 10 at the Gatton Cemetery,” she said.
Cr Holstein said region’s cemeteries hold meaningful significance and these upgrades would enhance the way the community utilises the facilities.
“Both locations play an important role in bringing families together across our community, and theses upgrades will provide additional comfort during the burial and memorial process,” she said.
