Spring Show ‘n’ Shine spectacular to delight motoring enthusiasts
The Laidley Recreational Reserve will be transformed into a mecca for car lovers next month, with dozens of vehicles expected to roll into town for the Spring Show ‘n’ Shine car show.
A wide array of makes and models including classic, custom, hot rods, muscle and vintage cars will be on display for the show, which will be held on Saturday, September 9 from 9am-1pm.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said this year’s Show ‘n’ Shine event would be the biggest and best one yet.
“I am excited to announce there has been a lot of interest from different car clubs and individuals who are keen to visit the Lockyer Valley and show off their wheels,” Mayor Milligan said.
“So far more than 50 cars have registered for the event, and I think that number will grow as we get closer.
“You don’t need to know a lot about cars to appreciate all the hard work that has gone into maintaining these cars, so be sure to head on down and chat to the owners and snap lots of pictures.”
Council has partnered with Southern Cross Charities for the organisation and delivery of this event.
Several local businesses have also come on board to sponsor the Show ‘n’ Shine, including Gatton Auto Pro, Unreal Auto Care Laidley, Gatton Power Sports, Gatton Goodyear Autocare, Gatton Repco, Supercheap Auto Gatton and Shannons.
Zack Perkovic from the HSV Nation Club is one person who will be there on the day with his two machines.
The Laidley Heights resident is encouraging members of the public to come down and inspect all the impressive cars that will be on display.
“We will be one of the car clubs there on the day, and I estimate we will have roughly 20 vehicles from our club on display,” Mr Perkovic said.
“We have members from all over South East Queensland attending, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley who will be coming to the event.
“We will be cruising up from the Gold Coast and stopping in at Ipswich and then making our way to Laidley. We will also be travelling with the Torana Club, who will also have vehicles on display.
“I will be there with my HSV ClubSport R8 and my VZ Calais, but there will also be lots of original and modified cars that are new and old.
“We love chatting about our cars to the public, so head on down and come and see us.
“I always encourage members of the club to head along to car shows, but I think with this year being the 60th anniversary of the Laidley Spring Festival, this car event is going to be the best one yet.”
Awards will be given out to the best cars on the day, with the awards presented at 12.30pm.
Major awards include:
- Supreme Car of the Show 2023 - Deluxe prize sponsored by Unreal Auto Care and trophy donated by Lockyer Trophies
- People’s Choice Award 2023 - Superior trophy and prize pack
Smaller trophies and prize packs will also be given to winners in the following categories:

Due to road closures on the day, all cars must arrive between 7am - 8.30am and be parked on site until the conclusion of the event at 1pm, with a grand exit procession planned.
For this event, The Laidley Spring Festival received an Australian Street Rod Federation approved travel concession for 2023 (travel permit number TC 285.02-2023), allowing all concessionally registered hot rods to travel directly to and from the Spring Show ‘n’ Shine.
The 60th Anniversary Laidley Spring Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and features on the It’s Live! In Queensland events calendar.
