Council’s 2023 Share the Dignity Drive underway
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Share the Dignity Drive for 2023 is now underway – with residents encouraged to once again get on board.
The initiative, all about putting a stop to period poverty, encourages everyone to do their part and share the dignity.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan applauded Share the Dignity for the important work they do.
“Share the Dignity is an Australian-based women’s charity that distributes female sanitary products to those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough.
“As an organisation, we will be taking donations throughout the month of September of personal care items and would like to open this up for donations from the community as well.
“You never know what someone is going through and, at the very least, let’s ensure they can manage their period with dignity,” she said.
All donated items will be provided to the Gatton Salvation Army, where a dedicated team of volunteers will make care packages for those in need.
Members of the community wishing to donate can do so by placing items in the marked purple bin, located in Council’s foyers in Gatton and Laidley.
Items can include sanitary items, deodorants, toothbrushes and toothpaste and soaps and must be: sealed in original packaging; no aerosol products; no medication, no food items and no razors.
