Local businesses are open and ready for visitors

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is encouraging residents and visitors to support local businesses, which are open and trading following the recent rainfall event.

Despite the weather event and the significant rainfall the Lockyer Valley has experienced of late, all major roads are now open, a Council spokesperson said.

“Following last week’s severe weather event, many businesses throughout Laidley and Forest Hill are now back in action.

“Thanks to the incredible efforts of our resilient community during the clean-up, our local shops, eateries and attractions are welcoming visitors!

“Plan a trip and support our local businesses by indulging in some shopping, eating delicious meals, and exploring what Laidley and Forest Hill have to offer.

“Major roads leading to these vibrant towns are safe and open to travel.

“This is a wonderful way to support our local businesses and we can’t wait to see you here.”

While the region was thankfully spared the widespread devastation and destruction of past flooding events, some roads were impacted and a number of low-lying roads remain closed.

“Council crews are working hard to assess damage and ensure infrastructure is safe to use,” the spokesperson said.

“We encourage motorists to take care, especially on back roads.”
