New tenant sought for former Laidley Gym building
An exciting opportunity to lease the former Laidley Gym building has become available after the departure of its long-term tenant.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is calling for tenders to utilise the community facility, with tenders that support or enhance the purpose and existing uses and users of the Laidley Recreational Reserve preferred, but not strictly required.
The facility, located at Whites Road (east), Laidley, has recently become vacant following its long-term use as a gym. Earlier this year, the tenant flagged with Council they intended to cease operating and vacate the building.
Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor, Anthony Wilson said the tenders should add value to, or better support the existing uses or users of the broader Laidley Recreation facility.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the fresh use of a facility that is centrally located in Laidley that can support or complement the sporting community, or wider community.
“A chance like this doesn’t present itself often, so we’re encouraging those who might see this as the right fit to consider submitting a tender.
“As always, we’re viewing this as a chance to add value to the current Laidley Recreation facility and our community.
“We’d also like to thank the former gym operator for their support of the local community over many years and respect their decision not to continue,” Cr Wilson said.
The facility has a 193m2 open indoor area, large verandah, storerooms, kitchen suitable for a canteen and amenities.
Tenders open on Friday 25 October and close on Friday 15 November 2024 at 2pm.
