Council welcomes financial relief for impacted residents
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has welcomed the Queensland Government’s activation of emergency financial assistance for eligible flood-impacted Lockyer Valley residents.
Council’s Deputy Mayor, Cr Chris Wilson said this assistance would ensure more people who were impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred are supported.
“This has been an incredibly difficult time for our communities, and this will go a long way towards supporting more impacted residents throughout our region,” Cr Wilson said.
Emergency payments of $180 for individuals, and up to $900 for a family of five or more are available for food, clothing and medicine, while other grants can cover things like loss of essential services and replacing damaged whitegoods.
Impacted residents in activated areas can check eligibility and apply via www.qld.gov.au/disasterhelp , by calling the Queensland Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349 or visiting a Community Recovery Hub.
Disaster Assistance Loans of up to $250,000 and Essential Working Capital Loans of up to $100,000 are also available for affected small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profits in the Lockyer Valley.
For eligibility and to apply, visit www.qrida.qld.gov.au or call 1800 623 946.
Assistance is being provided through the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
