2017 Lockyer Multicultural Festival
A Harmony Day Celebration
A unique blend of food, dancing and entertainment from around the world will be on display at this year's Lockyer Multicultural Festival, A Harmony Day Celebration'.
The festival will be held on Sunday 28 May and Multicultural Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said it would yet again highlight the array of cultural backgrounds that reside in the Lockyer.
The Lockyer Valley is home to people from many different backgrounds and the aim of the festival is to showcase the different cultures we have in the Lockyer Valley.
It gives people the opportunity to participate in an activity that comes from these culturally diverse backgrounds. The aim is to share, celebrate, participate and connect, he said.
Cr Hagan said the event was shaping up to be the biggest yet with a number of entertainment acts booked in, as well as a range of family fun activities.
Entertainment planned for the day includes:
- Dance workshops and demonstrations including modern belly dance, African dance, Island dancers, Aboriginal and classical Egyptian
- Cooking demonstrations, drumming workshops, poetry and a fashion parade
- Jumping castle, face painting and craft activities for the kids.
This festival has been running for a number of years now and provides a great opportunity for the community to come together and embrace all of our common values in a day full of entertainment and fun, Cr Hagan said.
