Come along to the Emergency Services Day this Sunday
For your chance to meet the region's emergency services personnel, make sure you come along to this Sunday's Get Ready Lockyer Emergency Services Day.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the day would be an opportunity to see first-hand what it takes to be part of our local emergency services in a fun and family-friendly environment.
"Come along and meet your local emergency services, support agencies and groups.
"There really will be something for everyone including an Army and Jaws of Life demonstrations, beer goggle buggies, a rock climbing wall, CPR awareness, face painting and a free jumping castle for the youngsters.
"Coming into storm and bushfire season, it's a timely opportunity for residents to get ready and learn what to do before, during and after a disaster or emergency with the latest information available," Mayor Milligan said.
ABC Southern Queensland will also broadcast live from 10am - 12pm on the day.
There will be lots of fun and free activities and giveaways for the whole family, with prizes valued at more than $1000 to be won, including a generator, solar power pack, 12/240v fridge and First Aid Kits.
Youngsters will also have the chance to win a Get Ready Teddy by making sure they get their entry form stamped by the agencies present on the day.
