Lockyer Valley Regional Council are bringing Australia's biggest community and sustainability event, Garage Sale Trail, to the region this October!
This jam-packed weekend is great way to declutter, make some money and meet your neighbours. Sellers in 2018 made an average of $309 at their garage sale and made 46 new connections in their community.
Households, schools, community groups and local businesses are invited to host a sale or shop the Trail, joining over 400,000 Australians in this nationwide movement that sees over 3 million kgs of items re-used and saved from landfill.
For shoppers, Garage Sale Trail is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and do your bit for the environment by preventing perfectly good items going to landfill.

Garage Sale Trail is Australia's biggest weekend of garage sales. It's happening on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October 2019.
You don't need to have a garage, just set up in your front yard or join in with your neighbours.
Q. What is Garage Sale Trail?
A. Garage Sale Trail is Australia's biggest weekend of garage sales. Taking place over one weekend in October, the event enables Lockyer Valley residents to find a new home for their pre-loved items, make a little pocket money and get to know their neighbours.
Our council is one of over 140 councils participating in the event across Australia. The program helps to reduce waste, encourage reuse and build a stronger sense of community. In 2019, it is anticipated over 350,000 Australians will get involved at over 16,000 garage sale events.
Q. When is it happening?
A. Garage Sale Trail happens on one weekend of the year. This year, it's on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October 2019.
Registrations are free and open to all residents from 10 August. From this time, residents will be able to put their garage sale on the Trail and search for local events near them at www.garagesaletrail.com.au/Lockyer-Valley.

A. Garage Sale Trail is for everyone! Participants include; households, community groups and charities, schools, cultural institutions as well as makers and creators
Q. How does it work?
A. Residents register a garage sale for free at garagesaletrail.com.au They can choose to host an event on Saturday 19 October, Sunday 20 October, or do both days, and can use the website to access promotional materials and support to help make their sale a success.
Shoppers log onto the website and search a national map for sales and unique items near them.
Q. Can sellers use the website to host a sale on a different weekend?
A. No. Garage Sale Trail takes place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October only.
Q. What does it cost?
A. Thanks to council's involvement in the program, Garage Sale Trail is free for residents to participate in.
Q. How do I register a garage sale?
A. Visit garagesaletrail.com.au and follow the steps online to register a sale. Registration is free and once signed up, you'll get access to promotional materials and support to help you plan your sale.
If you do not have access to a computer, Garage Sale Trail operates a registration phone line. Simply call 02 9052 0827 and you'll be sent a registration form within a maximum of one week.
Q. I don't want to host a sale at my house. Can I still get involved?
A. Yes, you can. In some areas, residents and community groups run group sales and have spaces available for stallholders to sell their pre-loved items. Simply visit garagesaletrail.com.au and search for group sales you can join near you.
Q Have I got a free seller pack?
A. If you are one of the first 1,250 sellers to register a sale before Monday 10 September, you will receive a free printed seller success pack. This pack contains posters, letterbox slips and price tags to help your sale be the best it can be. If you're not sure whether you are eligible to receive a pack get in touch with Garage Sale Trail on contactus@garagesaletrail.com.au
Sellers registering after 10 September can still access free promotional materials through the Garage Sale Trail website.
Q. Who gets the money raised?
A. It's up to the individual seller. Some decide to keep the proceeds, others fundraise for a charity. On average households make around $400 on one day and community groups over $1,500.
Q. I can't log into my Garage Sale Trail account.
A. To reset your password visit the website at garagesaletrail.com.au and choose "reset my password" when you log into your account. You can also contact Garage Sale Trail's support team direct on contactus@garagesaletrail.com.au
Q. I can no longer participate. How do I delete my sale?
A. Log into your account at garagesaletrail.com.au and select the delete my sale option or get in touch with Garage Sale Trail direct on contactus@garagesaletrail.com.au They will respond to your enquiry within a maximum of two working days.
Q. What Garage Sale Trail events are happening in the local area?
A. Visit garagesaletrail.com.au and use the national map to search for sales happening across the council area. Sales will be added to the site up to Friday 18 October so check in regularly for the latest list.
