Australia Day nominations now open
NOMINATIONS for the 2016 Australia Day Awards open today, Thursday 1 October.
Council's Mayor Steve Jones encouraged residents to get their votes in early.
Australia Day Awards are always a fitting way to pay tribute to members of our community who go above and beyond their obligations.
I would encourage everyone to consider submitting a nomination if they believe they know someone who is community-minded and passionate about the Lockyer Valley, Cr Jones said.
Categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Junior Sports Award
- Senior Sports Award
- Sporting or Community Group of the Year
- Arts and Cultural Award
- Community Event of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
Nomination forms are available from Council Offices in Gatton and Laidley, Libraries, the Lake Apex Visitor Information Centre or online at www.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au
Nominations will close on the following dates, depending on method of lodgement:
- Entries submitted by mail must be postmarked on or before Friday 20 November 2015 and addressed to:Lockyer Valley Regional CouncilAustralia Day AwardsPO Box 82GATTON QLD 4343
- Electronic submissions must be received by 11.59pm Eastern Standard Time on Monday 23 November 2015 at regionaldevelopment@lvrc.qld.gov.au
- Submissions delivered to Council offices must be lodged on or before 4.30pm on Monday 23 November 2015 at either 26 Railway Street, Gatton or 9 Spicer Street, Laidley.
- Entries submitted by fax must be received by 5pm on Monday 23 November 2015 at 07 5462 3269.
