CCTV cameras to be installed at Lake Apex Park
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has secured funding to install CCTV cameras at Lake Apex Park in Gatton.
The funding, part of the Safer Streets Program, will see Council receive $17,000 to install five cameras.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Recreation/Amenity and Facilities Portfolio, Cr Jason Cook said the funding would go a long way towards reducing vandalism in the area.
The cameras will provide a bird's eye view of the playground area, skate bowl and car park.
The installation of CCTV cameras will not only deter offenders, but ensure community assets are protected for both the benefit of residents and visitors to the region.
Any vandalism requires funding from Council to repair or replace damaged items is a waste of ratepayer money and could be better utilised to improve community spaces, Cr Cook said.
