Contractors on site for Laidley Library upgrade
It's about to begin!
Principal Building Contractors for the all-new Laidley Library and Customer Contact Centre have set up shop on-site, in preparation for building to begin.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said contractors A Dart & Co were preparing for internal demolition to begin this week.
Our contractors established on-site late last week and they have begun to disconnect all services, ahead of the internal demolition of the Laidley Council building.
The builders will have control of the site for the duration of construction works and a pedestrian path has been established on the footpath along Spicer Street.
At this stage, demolition of the Council building is expected to be completed by Christmas, Mayor Milligan said.
Council's Deputy Mayor and Facilities Portfolio Councillor, Jason Cook, said the project would ramp up in the New Year.
We will see the internal fit-out and external civil works get underway in early January, Cr Cook said.
The project forms part of Council's 2016/17 Budget. Council will contribute towards the $1.1M development, while a grant of $264,000, under the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program (LGGSP), will further help facilitate the project.
