Cool change on the way for Cultural Centre
The Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre will soon have improved air-conditioning - just in time for the hottest summer months.
Funding provided by the Palaszczuk State Government's COVID Works for Queensland program will allow rectification works to be carried out on the facility's Roof and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) this month.
Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the program was part of Queensland's already announced $8 billion economic recovery plan.
"We took a strong position on the health front very early in the pandemic and now there's a clear plan for economic recovery," he said.
"As part of the COVID Works for Queensland program, Lockyer Valley Regional Council received $1.7 million, allocated to eight projects and estimated to create or support more than 40 jobs."
Lockyer Valley Facilities Portfolio Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jason Cook said there would be minor interruption to the facility operations during the upgrade project.
"Using the Cultural Centre facilities during the upgrade project will continue while works are carried out.
"The proposed improvement works will ensure the plant and equipment can operate in a suitable physical environment that improves the consistency of cooling and heating to all areas.
"Thanks to the Palaszczuk State Government's COVID Works for Queensland Program, Council is able to make the Cultural Centre more user-friendly and efficient during the summer months," Cr Cook said.
The HVAC works are expected to be complete in December 2020.
The Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre Renewal Program - Roof and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) rectification works are an initiative of the Queensland Government.
