Council commits to changes in online purchasing
Keeping its money where its mouth is, Lockyer Valley Regional Council recently endorsed a new system to manage its supplier relationships.
Council's eProcurement function was earmarked for a change and VendorPanel, a web-based eProcurement system will do just that.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan said VendorPanel was a popular choice.
VendorPanel is used by hundreds of organisations to increase transparency and compliance in quote-based purchasing and procurement from registered and approved suppliers.
Council recently moved to VendorPanel to manage its local preferred suppliers.
This includes a range of supplier relationships - from pre-qualified supplier panels, to Local Government panels and the wider marketplace.
With more than 70 categories for suppliers to register under, VendorPanel is another example of Council's commitment to support local suppliers, she said.
Finance Portfolio Councillor Chris Wilson said the benefits of the program were endless.
VendorPanel gives local suppliers an easy and consistent way to hear about contract opportunities from Council.
It's easy to set-up, consistent, simplifies the Request for Quote format and process and allows suppliers access to multiple supplier lists from one account.
It also provides Council staff with an easy way to send out quotes, which will ultimately increase the chances of you hearing about contracts, he said.
Interested parties are invited to attend an information evening on Thursday 10 November at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
Come along from 5pm to hear from suppliers and contractors on the topic of doing business with Council. RSVP by emailing tenders@lvrc.qld.gov.au by 2pm, Tuesday 8 November 2016 for catering purposes.
