Council consults on works priorities
What do you want Council's Infrastructure Works and Services (IWS) team to deliver? That is the basis of Council's latest consultation, that's now open.
Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan said it was important to highlight the community's priorities for a range of services delivered by the IWS team.
The results of the consultation will be used to help shape the Works Program for 2017-18 and will increase community responsiveness in budget deliberations.
Mayor Milligan said Council had been actively consulting with the community on a range of issues over the past year, with the results used to better align Council decisions with community expectations.
Last year we used the Budget Allocator tool to find out how the community would prioritise the annual budget on a broad level and this new consultation builds on those results.
Overall, residents said they were satisfied with current service levels, with the exception of Infrastructure Works and Services where they would like to see an increase in delivery.
This new consultation will explore those potential service level increases in more detail, including road maintenance, footpaths, mowing of parks and gardens, children's playgrounds and cemetery maintenance, Mayor Milligan said.
Infrastructure Portfolio Chair, Councillor Janice Holstein said the consultation asked the community to indicate their preferred levels of service across 12 separate activities.
Moving forward, we will then prioritise those activities in order of importance.
I strongly encourage local residents and business owners to have their say on this important matter, Cr Holstein said.
The consultation will remain open until Wednesday 24 May. To have your say, visit Council's Community Consultation webpage or contact the Community Engagement Team on 1300 005 872.
