Council praised for recycling message
SO strong was the region's support of the Garage Sale Trail initiative, the Lockyer Valley scooped its very first award!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council took home The Good Stuff Award, in recognition of the way Council created an engaging campaign that captured not only residents, but Council staff and Councillors too.
The nation-wide initiative was held last month and designed to promote sustainable living when hundreds of thousands of people across the country hosted a garage sale simultaneously.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Cr Tanya Milligan praised residents for their drive to achieve environmental sustainability.
More than 150 Councils from across Australia participated in this initiative, so to receive any award demonstrates the level of commitment our residents have when it comes to reusing and recycling.
On a local level, 59 stalls were registered across the region, so it's clear what we did led residents to relate to the initiative and want to be involved.
Coming into the festive season, it's also a timely reminder for residents to recycle used Christmas wrapping paper and packaging.
In the chaos of Christmas morning, please take the time to ensure anything recyclable is separated for recycling collection, as every little bit makes a difference!
