Council thrilled to bring Christmas to life at Lake Apex
Brace your elves - Christmas is coming and so too are the jolly festivities of the Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival.
Topping off what has been a tumultuous year, Council is thrilled to be delivering one of the region's favourite events on the annual social calendar.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan emphasised that despite the significant changes experienced this year, the night will still serve up all the traditional Christmas experiences our community has grown to know and love.
The Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival is highly renowned for its free stage entertainment, Christmas carols, ham wheels, live music, children's rides and performances by local dance groups - and this year will be no different, Mayor Milligan said.
Offering a suite of entertainment the whole family can enjoy, the free community celebration will serve as the perfect opportunity for everyone to come together, connect and revel in what has been a massive year.
Funded through the Australian Government's Drought Communities Programme Extension, Council's Christmas elves have been working tirelessly to create a COVID Safe Christmas Carnival for the community to enjoy.
To ensure we are complying with all COVID restrictions, we're ramping things up a notch and taking the fun to a whole new location at Lake Apex Gatton.
Nestled amongst the open grass spaces and wildlife, the atmosphere of the new location will add a fresh twist to an old classic while allowing social distancing to be better exercised.
Santa has been advised of the relocation, and the man in red has assured us he will still be making a grand appearance, Mayor Milligan said.
All the hype will culminate when the event comes to life from 5.30pm - 9.30pm on Friday 18 December 2020.
