Country Challenge on Campus Fun Run
This year's Country Challenge on Campus Fun Run has something new in store - the Family Fun Lap.
The Family Fun Lap is a great opportunity for families to acquaint themselves with the University of Queensland's grounds, from the heritage buildings to the sporting fields and gym facilities.
Council's Mayor Steve Jones said the free Family Fun Lap would be held at 6pm to cater for families and businesses that couldn't make the 4pm start for the competitive sections.
"From 3pm there will be a DJ, free face painting and a sausage sizzle.
"Book in the family, pick up the neighbours, buckle in the family dog, throw in the pushbikes or scooters if there is room and head to UQ Gatton for an afternoon of fun and fitness," he said.
The event will be held on Wednesday 7 October at UQ Gatton on the Courtney Rugby Oval.
Held in conjunction with Mental Health week, it is a great opportunity to do something to invigorate the soul.
Check-in is from 3pm to 4pm. The 10km run starts at 4.30pm, the 5km run starts at 5pm and the free Family Fun Lap kicks off at 6pm. You can walk, run or ride (bicycle or scooter for the kids) and dogs are welcome.
Entry is $10 for adults and $5 for students, with all proceeds donated back to Beyond Blue.
