Country Challenge on Campus Fun Run this weekend!
Country Challenge on Campus Fun Run now on a weekend!
IF you're after a fun family afternoon, mark Sunday 9 October in your diary and come along to this year's Country Challenge on Campus Fun Run and dive-in movie.
This year's event is fast approaching and the event is sure to entertain all ages.
Held in conjunction with Mental Health Week, it is a great opportunity for school students, university students and the local community to visit the campus and help raise money for Beyond Blue.
Hosted by Lockyer Valley Regional Council and the University of Queensland Gatton Campus, this is the first year the event will be held on a Sunday.
It's hoped this will lead to not only more locals competing, but competitors from further afield being able to attend, Community Development Portfolio Cr Michael Hagan said.
Check-in is from 2pm at the central walkway at UQ Gatton. The 5km fun run starts at 4pm while the 10km race kicks-off at 4.30pm. You can walk or run and dogs are welcome.
Presentations will be held at the UQ Sport, Fitness and Aquatic Centre at 6.30pm, followed by the dive-in movie on an inflatable big screen from 7pm. Who wouldn't want to relax in the pool and watch the flick Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY to finish off the day?
Barbecues will be operating with a sausage sizzle, hamburgers and popcorn also on sale.
Spring is here so why not start your training now and head to UQ Gatton for an afternoon of fun and fitness, Cr Hagan said.
