Final stage in Murphys Creek footpath underway
Work is now underway on the next link of the concrete footpath along Murphys Creek Road at Murphys Creek.
Council will construct the link between Jack Court and Odin Street, Murphys Creek. Stage 3 follows on from the completion of 950 metres of footpath and culvert, from Jack Court heading towards Murphys Creek State School in Stage 2 of the project last June.
Lockyer Valley Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein said the additional 330 metres of footpath would provide greater access for residents.
COVID-19 has only reinforced the Importance of physical movement and the completion of this project will further allow residents to exercise and walk their children to and from school.
The current footpath is used regularly by residents and this additional link will only improve functionality of the existing route.
The path is a great asset for the Murphys Creek community and will further assist residents with achieving community connectivity, she said.
The project will involve traffic management and earthworks while the concrete footpath, culvert installation and landscaping are completed.
Concrete and drainage works are now underway, with the project expected to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.
