Funding available through Council's Community Grants initiative

Community and sporting groups throughout the region are set to benefit with Round 1 of the Community Grants initiative now open for applications.

Sport and Recreation Portfolio Chair, Cr Jason Cook said the program was designed to provide financial assistance to a range of organisations throughout the region.

If there are any groups who have a big idea that could change or improve our community for the better, I would encourage them to apply, Cr Cook said.

The grants will be awarded to communitybased organisations in the Lockyer Valley that focus on:

Community Development

Arts & Cultural Development

Social Services

Recreational Services

Environmental Initiatives

Educational Support

The Community Grants Program is for non-recurrent grants between $500 and $4000. Applications are assessed on merit and the availability of funds.

Applications will remain open until 31 August 2018 and are available at www.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au
