Garage Sale Trail
Lockyer Valley another stop on the Garage Sale Trail
If you're looking to free up some space in the shed, why not have a garage sale?
Households, schools and community groups from the region are set to join hundreds of thousands of people across the country for a national reuse, community and sustainable living movement called the Garage Sale Trail.
Since its creation in 2010, the Garage Sale Trail has grown from a grassroots event to a program powered by over 150 councils nationally.
Lockyer Valley Mayor Tanya Milligan said she was excited for Council to share this initiative with the region's residents.
The Lockyer Valley is such a pristine environment and as a community, it's important that we keep our precious region clean. The Garage Sale Trail is the perfect initiative to promote reuse and create awareness around illegal dumping, while also uniting our community under this great cause, Mayor Milligan said.
The event encourages people to consider how things can be reused while also providing an opportunity to raise money.
Last year, the initiative saw 350,000 participants involved, with almost three million items listed for sale at over 13,000 garage sales across Australia.
Registration is free and open to all households, local businesses, schools and community groups and the sale will take place on Saturday 22 October 2016, Mayor Milligan said.
