Garden Competition winners announced
Wayne and Val Lawson's Blenheim Road property has received the coveted Grand Champion title in this year's Lockyer Valley Garden Competition.
The winners of this year's competition were officially announced at a presentation morning tea, held this morning at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
Gardening expert and judge Rod Hultgren had the tough task of ranking this year's impressive entries.
Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan said all entrants were to be congratulated for their efforts in producing gardens that were truly stunning.
You know it's spring in the Lockyer Valley when our green-thumbed residents put so much time and effort into ensuring their gardens are in top shape.
I would like to thank and congratulate all our returning and budding gardeners for entering this year's competition and for adding to the magic of this time of year, Mayor Milligan said.
This year's winners are:
Grand Champion and Large Rural Garden: Wayne and Val Lawson, Wayval Views, 77 Blenheim Road, Blenheim.
Small Rural Garden: Alan and Shirley Small,19 Pats Road, Plainland.
Large Town Garden: Joan and Alex Body, 11 Tyrrell Court, Laidley.
Small Town Garden: Betty Dallinger, 93 William Street, Gatton.
First Time Entrant: Brian Minotti, 21 Australia II Drive, Kensington Grove.
Best Street Appeal: Dennis and Janet Stark, 7 Harch Street, Gatton.
Business, Health Services or Community Group: Tabeel Lutheran Home, 27 Ambrose Street, Laidley.
School or Child Care Centre: Mount Sylvia State School, 6 Left Hand Branch Road, Mount Sylvia.
Best Waterwise: Faith Lutheran College, 5 Faith Avenue, Plainland.
