Get Ready Lockyer Valley during ‘Get Ready Queensland Week’
Get Ready Lockyer Valley during Get Ready Queensland Week'
Get Ready Queensland Week runs from 12 to 18 October 2020 and that means it's the perfect time for Lockyer Valley residents to Get Ready for the upcoming severe weather season.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Get Ready Queensland Week is all about encouraging residents to prepare their household and community by completing three simple steps, which include:
- Make a Plan
- Pack Supplies
- Check your Insurance
"Keeping a Household Emergency Plan is one of the most effective ways to ensure everyone knows where to go and what to do in an emergency.
"Get your family together and make a list of your most important contacts, such as doctors, utility and insurance providers and family and friends who live in other locations.
"Vital emergency supplies include essentials you'd need to last at least three days at home if you were isolated due to flooding, such as non-perishable food and water; a torch; battery powered radio and toiletries.
"Regardless of if you rent or own your home, it's so important to be covered for disasters and to be familiar with your insurance details.
"It's timely now to make sure you're ready for the severe weather season and to ensure you have the plans in place to protect your most important assets.
"We've endured many natural disasters here in the Lockyer Valley, and preparation is key to making sure you're on the front foot before the severe weather seasons begin," Mayor Milligan said.
