Lockyer Valley – a region of flavours
Lockyer Valley - a region of flavours
The Regional Flavours festival is about to hit Brisbane again, and so are the tastes of the Lockyer Valley.
The region's produce and its producers will have the opportunity to showcase their finest when more than 70,000 people flock to this weekend's event, held in the picturesque Southbank Parklands.
The Lockyer Valley will once again sponsor the popular Picnic Patch at the festival, where foodies will be able to sample and purchase from the region's growers and producers including Bauer's Organic Farm, Dunlop Apiaries, Emmos Fine Foods, Mormor Food, Schulte's, UB's Farm Helidon and Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate.
Even more exciting is Celebrity Chef and Lockyer Valley Food Ambassador Alastair McLeod's menu for the Picnic Patch. Tempting delights will include a Colours of the Lockyer Paella Salad and Spiced Pumpkin and Coconut Soup with Burnt Honey.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan said Alastair was the perfect Food Ambassador for the region.
He is passionate about fresh, local produce and that makes him the perfect person to promote the Lockyer Valley to Queensland and beyond.
Alastair has built relationships with our growers and producers, and he really understands and appreciates not only their product but what they are working to achieve.
When Alastair takes to the stage at Regional Flavours he will be using recipes that highlight just how amazing the Lockyer Valley's produce is, and of course we will have a collection of his regional recipes available for everyone to take home from our Visit the Lockyer Valley stand in the Picnic Patch, Cr Milligan said.
The spotlight on the region will be extra bright with the festival's main competition being A Luxury Escape to the Lockyer Valley, with Branell Homestead and Lockyer Valley Regional Council as sponsors.
Council will also run a Luvya Lockyer Family Weekend competition as part of Regional Flavours. The Luvya Lockyer Family Weekend prize will include two night's accommodation at Fordsdale Farmstay, a family Sunday Buffet Breakfast on the Lake at Staging Post Caf, an annual family membership to Queensland Transport Museum, a family farm tour at Bauer's Organic Farm and a Luvya Lockyer hamper with product from Emmo's Fine Foods, Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate, Schulte's and Mormor Food.
