Recognising our youth
Help the Lockyer Valley recognise its young achievers by nominating them in the Queensland Young Achiever Awards.
The inaugural event aims to put a spotlight on everyone up to the age of 29 who deserve to be recognised.
With the Lockyer Valley home to a number of inspirational youth, Mayor Steve Jones, is encouraging individuals to enter nominations in the new awards.
We have some outstanding members in community who would be ideal candidates for these awards, Mayor Jones said.
I urge residents in the Lockyer Valley to get their nominations in for these awards with the closing date approaching shorty.
Nominations are open until Friday 29 January in the following categories:
- The Coffee Club Arts and Fashion Award
- AustralianSuper Career Kick Start Award
- Fly Online Achievement Award
- Wade Sawmill Environment and Sustainability Award
- BP Print Leadership Award
- Kennelly Constructions Aboriginal Achievement Award
- Access Community Services - Multicultural Youth Queensland (MyQ) Cultural Diversity Award
- The University of Queensland Create Change Award
All category winners will receive $2000 as well as a trophy, with the Overall Queensland Young Achiever of the Year wining an additional $2000.
