Service stickers encourage residents to follow waste collection guidelines
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is continuing its war on waste.
From today, Council will introduce a new waste collection service sticker to replace the mail-out version that's currently in use.
Health and Waste Management Portfolio Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Cr Jason Cook said the stickers would be used to notify ratepayers of any kerbside issues affecting their bin collection.
Stickers will provide notification to the resident at the time of service of any contamination issues.
Depending on the level of contamination or the issue noted, bins may or may not be serviced.
Residents are also reminded that non-Council issued bins or any excess waste outside of bins will not be serviced, Cr Cook said.
The sticker system will provide notification if a bin:
Contained contamination (items that were not compatible with the bin service)
Contained builders' rubble/material
Contained asbestos or other hazardous material
Was over-full (please ensure the lid is fully closed)
Was too heavy
Was a non-LVRC issued bin (LVRC stamped bins only)
Additional and unapproved bins were presented
Excess waste outside of the bin cannot be serviced (please remove any excess waste from kerbside)
Waste was spilt around the bin before emptying it (to avoid litter please ensure your lid is fully closed)
Cr Cook said the new initiative would assist Council to lift the standard of service currently being delivered in the Lockyer Valley.
It will also provide our residents with immediate notification and bring us in line with neighbouring Councils.
We consider the introduction to be a positive way forward for the sustainability of Council's waste management, Cr Cook said.
