Spring Festival is nearly here!
Final preparations are underway for the 2018 Laidley Spring Festival, ahead of the event kicking-off next week.
The three-day festival, held from Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 September, will see thousands converge on the region for the celebration of all things spring.
It all gets underway on the Thursday with the Spring Orchid Show, as well as the Artists Exhibition, Quilt and Craft Expo, Botanical Caf, Laidley Pioneer Village & Museum, Das Neumann Haus and church displays officially opening to the public.
Saturday, the Family Fun Day, is on from 9am - 2pm at the Laidley Recreation Reserve and will feature rides, markets, kids' activities and Geckoes Wildlife. Headlining the children's entertainment on the day will be dirtgirlworld, while The Beatles tribute show, The Beatlegs will ensure there's something for all ages when they hit the stage for four performances on the day.
Other must-see events on Saturday 8 September include the Show 'n Shine, Colour Run, the Make it, Bake it, Grow it Markets and of course the Street Parade from 10am.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan encouraged residents to nominate for the range of new events set to make their debut at this year's festival.
"Council is pleased to offer for the first time a Show 'n Shine, Busking Competition and Colour Run and we hope to see as many nominations as possible for these new events.
"We are also offering a Festival Pass wristband for only $8 that provides access into all festival venues over the three days of the event.
"It can be purchased at either the Laidley Cultural Centre or the Quilt and Craft Expo for only $8 and is an economical way to make sure you see as much of the event as possible," Mayor Milligan said.
A free shuttle bus will run between the main venues during the three days. The bus will depart every 30 minutes from 9am at the Laidley Cultural Centre, stopping at all stops.
