Spring has sprung in Laidley
With winter now done and dusted, the wonder that is spring is here and that means the annual Laidley Spring Festival is right around the corner.
The weather is warming up and flowers are starting to bloom. To celebrate, Laidley will revel in all things that are spring from Thursday 10 - Saturday 12 September.
Council's Mayor Steve Jones said the festival would bring an added element of excitement to the region.
The Laidley Spring Festival continues to grow in popularity each year and I'm confident this year will be no exception, Cr Jones said.
Celebrations will kick off on Thursday with the Garden and Flowers Show, as well as the Spring Orchid Show, Artists Exhibition, Quilt and Craft Expo and church displays officially opening to the public. Other must-see events on Saturday 12 September include Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live stage show and creative centre; QN Hotel Show and Shine; the Street Parade from 1pm and roving entertainment, music, face painting and an animal farm.
Das Neumann Haus featuring Annie's Place Coffee Shoppe will offer a special pancake menu, markets and music during the festival.
In an exciting first, this year Neilsen's Place, the former library building, will play host to an Artisan's pop-up gallery for the duration of the festival.
The Laidley Better Business will also hold the Make it, Bake it, Grow it Markets from 8.30am-1pm on the Saturday.
Come along and enjoy this fabulous community event, Cr Jones said.
If you're unsure of what's on offer to see and do, chat with friendly volunteers at one of the Information Hot Spots, located in front of the Post Office, Patrick Street or near the stage at the Laidley Recreation Reserve on Saturday from 9am - 1.30pm.
A visit to some of the award-winning gardens on display is also a must, and I would encourage anyone interested to enjoy a public bus tour of the winning garden on Friday 11 September, Cr Jones said.
Tickets for the Garden Tour are $10 with bookings essential. Phone (07) 5466 3426.
A free shuttle bus will run between the main venues during the three days, departing Laidley Cultural Centre every 25 minutes.
