Tree removal at Laidley Mall
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has been advised that due to potential structural damage to adjoining buildings and pavement areas, an independent arborist has recommended the removal of the Flame Tree located in Laidley Mall.
Council exhausted all possible avenues to remedy the situation, including the trip hazards, but unfortunately no other viable options were available that would remove all elements of public risk.
Decisions to remove trees are never made lightly by Council, and the chance of survival for the tree should it be relocated is very small due to shock and current drought conditions.
In the interest of public safety and the integrity of surrounding buildings, Council has taken the advice of the arborist and will remove the tree in the coming weeks.
