Waste collection remains operational
Council's waste collection and waste facilities are currently operating as usual, subject to short notice changes during the COVID-19 response.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council's waste collection contractor has a business continuity plan in place to manage possible staffing reductions and shares Council's commitment to maintaining this vital service with the least possible disruption to residents.
"Customers are reminded to put bins out the night before their collection day and leave them out until they're emptied, even it takes an extra day or two.
"If one resident finds their bin not emptied we encourage them to call Council, but if others in the street haven't been emptied we assure them the truck will get there soon.
"This period of social distancing may be a great time to do some yard maintenance and a 'spring clean', even though it's autumn and Lockyer Valley residents are reminded that our waste facilities are still open, with the exception of the tip shops," Mayor Milligan said.
This means you can take your domestic/household green waste (max 6x4 trailer), recyclables and household waste (less than a wheelie bin full) to one of our facilities at no cost.
Council has temporarily closed all tip shops at our Waste Facilities effective immediately to protect employees and customers. Donations and sales cannot be managed at this time and we ask for
your patience in these rapidly changing times.
Any unwanted goods will be accepted at all sites when functions are returned to normal. For more information visit Council's website, www.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au
