Waste collection services over the holiday period
Christmas is fast approaching and Lockyer Valley Regional Council is assuring residents waste collection services will remain unchanged throughout the region this festive season.
Health and Waste Management Portfolio Councillor Jason Cook said it was business as usual over the Christmas and New Year period.
Bins will still be serviced on all public holidays over the Christmas and New Year break.
However, residents are reminded to place their bins out the night before collection, or before 6am on their regular collection days.
Council's waste facilities will also be open over the festive period, with the only exception being Christmas Day, Cr Cook said.
With an increase in waste and recyclable material over the holiday period, Cr Cook asked residents to make a conscious effort in placing the correct waste items in their respective bins.
Christmas cards, paper and boxes, plastics, glass, and aluminium cans/aerosols are all recyclable if placed loosely in your yellow lid bins, while Christmas paper with the foil backing and tinsel are not, he said.
The Tip Shop will be closed Christmas Day and opening hours will be limited on other public holidays. It is open 8.30am - 4pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am - 2.30pm on public holidays and Saturday.
