Lockyer Valley Regional Council will host a series of hip-hop workshops later this month – just in time for the winter school holidays!
Delivered by Elements Collective, one of Australia's leading hip-hop dance companies, classes will be held for participants aged 5+ through to adults 18 years and over - even grandparents - and will be aimed at beginners and intermediate-level participants.
Lockyer Valley Arts Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said Council was thrilled to bring this initiative back to the Lockyer Valley.
"The workshops will teach basic moves and the foundation of hip-hop and street dance, as well as a routine to perform on the final night if participants choose to join in.
"As a Council, we are committed to encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle for our residents and a love of the arts and we believe this program ticks both boxes," Cr Hagan said.
The workshops will be held from Monday 28 June to Wednesday 30 June 2021 at Lockyer District State High School, with varying times for different ages.
This Lockyer Valley Regional Council initiative is made possible thanks to funding support from the Queensland Government's Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
"We extend our thanks to the Queensland Government for supporting Council to deliver this initiative to residents of the Lockyer Valley," Cr Hagan said.
