Council, Laidley RSL join forces on Sub Branch upgrades
Lockyer Valley Regional Council will soon undertake a series of improvements at Anzac Park in Laidley, following a request from the Laidley RSL Sub Branch.
Council officers met with representatives from the Laidley RSL to discuss options to improve space for Anzac Day services.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the improvements were needed after a surge in attendance over the last few years.
“Anzac Day is a poignant and meaningful day for all Australians, and it is wonderful to see the increase in attendance that’s taken place in the region as a whole and at Laidley’s Dawn Service and main service.
“It is expected this will only continue to grow and because of that, we want to ensure our community has the room they need to pay their respects not only at Anzac Day, but year-round,” Mayor Milligan said.
Works will include the removal of the highest tier of hedging that is acting as a visual barrier, which will also increase standing space.
Works are expected to begin on Monday 6 September and be completed by the end of that week, weather permitting.
