Staff at Lockyer Valley Regional Council are ramping up internal fundraising efforts in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – rising to the challenge to support the insidious disease.
A sea of pink will flood Council over the month of October – as staff sport the colour pink in lieu of a donation.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council would shine a light on Breast Cancer through various fundraising initiatives.
“All funds raised will be forwarded directly to the Ipswich Hospital Foundation, to help aid in making a tangible difference right here in the Lockyer Valley.
“Access to quality health services is something we as a Council are passionate about advocating for our region.
“The BreastScreen Queensland Van is currently in the Lockyer Valley, with Council installing water and three phased power to ensure this quality health service is in a prominent and accessible location for residents, while also allowing local access to vital breast cancer screening services,” Mayor Milligan said.
In addition to internal fundraising efforts, Council is partnering with BreastScreen Queensland to deliver the Breast Screen Open Day (and other health service stalls) on Thursday.
The Open Day will be held at the Lockyer Valley Sports and Aquatic Centre on 7 October from 9am – 11.30am.
Wesbro Services will be in attendance with their very own pink Mustang – sure to be a crowd pleaser!
