Online mapping program for Christmas lights in the Lockyer
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is encouraging residents to register for a new, online mapping program that will showcase the locations of the very best of the region’s Christmas spirit.
The easy-to-use platform will provide details on residences, businesses and community groups who have their Christmas light displays open for public viewing.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said online and hard copy registration forms would be available from Monday 1 November.
“I am always taken aback by the Christmas lights that are on display across our region – so many homes really do put so much passion behind their displays – and we wanted to find a way to map out the locations of all the participating addresses.
“This year, we wanted to take the lead from the community and offer a new platform to showcase the Christmas light displays.
“While there won’t be a competition this year, we will instead focus our energy on spreading Christmas joy right across the Lockyer Valley.
“The Program easily shows where the registered properties are, so families can plan their evenings and get around all that’s on offer,” Mayor Milligan said.
Registrations will be live on the interactive map five business days after being lodged, with registrations closing on Sunday 5 December 2021. A list of registered addresses with ongoing updates, will be available on the luvyalockyer.com.au website from Wednesday 1 December.
Entry forms will be available from Council offices, Libraries and the Lockyer Valley Visitor Information Centre from Monday 1 November. To register online, visit www.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au/christmas-lights
