Upgrade works set for Gatton CBD
Lockyer Valley Regional Council will continue upgrade works on Railway Street in Gatton, with a three-night asphalt works program set to commence later this month.
Works are scheduled to commence from Sunday 21 November until 23 November and will focus on overlaying the section of Railway Street, from North Street to Spencer Street.
The preservation works will require a full road closure, including parking and footpaths.
Lockyer Valley Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor, Janice Holstein said Council was committed to renewing the road surface with as little impact to the community as possible.
“The planned works will be completed between 6pm and 6am, daily.
“Council staff have been consulting with local businesses to advise them of the proposed works, mitigate risks and ensure their businesses can still be accessed during this period
“If this road is not refurbished prior to more extensive damage occurring, an overlay will no longer be effective, and a full depth reconstruction project will instead be required at a great cost to ratepayers,” Cr Holstein said.
The roadworks will require footpath closures within the work zone due to hot splash hazards and Council is working with impacted businesses to arrange alternative access for their patrons.
All parked vehicles will need to be removed from the works area before 6pm each night.
Weather permitting, the upgrades are expected to take three days. It is anticipated a one-night line marking closure will follow on 29 November.
Asphalt overlay works will also be conducted on the carpark behind the Council office, however Railway Street will be open at this time.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their patience during the works period.
