Win for ratepayers of the Lockyer Valley
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has welcomed news from the Queensland Government’s Valuer-General that a new valuation will be undertaken in the Lockyer Valley local government area.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan says following correspondence with the Department of Resources in October, the new valuation will be issued by 31 March 2022.
Following the significant changes in past valuations and the impact that had on local rates, Mayor Milligan said this was a major win for ratepayers of the Lockyer Valley.
“Council advised the Valuer-General in October that an annual valuation was needed for the Lockyer Valley due to the ongoing level of development, the large variances in the previous valuations and the impact to ratepayers.
“This is a service they charge Council for on an annual basis, so we are pleased to have worked behind-the-scenes to secure this outcome for the region,” Mayor Milligan said.
The new valuations are expected to take effect from 30 June 2022.
