Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan was today presented with the DISCO Sovereign Award at Council’s Ordinary Meeting.
The DISCO Sovereign is the organisation’s highest award and is given to an individual or entity which has been instrumental in supporting the growth and development of the organisation in a specific community.
Downs Industry Schools Co-Op (DISCO) presented the Sovereign Award to the Mayor in recognition of Council’s constant support of the organisation since it commenced in the region in 2016.
DISCO CEO, Mike Paton thanked Council for their continued commitment and support of regional youth.
“From providing support to enable the organisation to access cost effective accommodation in Gatton through to the provision of funding to enable local youth events to take place in the region, this Award is in recognition of Council’s continued assistance throughout the years.
“It is our way of acknowledging and thanking Council for their support in assisting the organisation to initially commence operations and then provide indirect and direct support to assist the youth of the Lockyer Valley to move forward positively to seek training and employment opportunities
“It is our firm belief that our ability to operate in the Lockyer Valley would not have been possible without the commitment and support of Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
“It gives the organisation great pleasure to award Council a DISCO Sovereign, which is the highest honour the organisation can bestow on an entity or individual,” Mr Paton said.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the Award was a huge honour for the organisation.
“Partnerships are an important part of our organisation and Council is always thrilled to work with the community and assist in the betterment of our region.
