Despite a late location change following the deluge of rain across the region, crowds flocked to North Street in Gatton to celebrate the Christmas spirit at the 2021 Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the event is a special one on the region’s social calendar.
“We welcomed more than 2000 residents over the course of the night, with everyone enjoying a night full of local entertainment
“COVID-19 has changed the way we operate and deliver a lot of events, but it was wonderful to see so many faces coming together in a safe way to catch up – with many they haven’t seen for so long.
“The Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival is a wonderful opportunity to share the Christmas spirit with family and friends and spread the joy of Christmas across our region,” Mayor Milligan said.
As the Foundation Sponsor of the “Your Town” promotion, Mayor Milligan said the flow-on effects were felt throughout the entire region.
“Shopping local means supporting local jobs, keeping local jobs and cementing the economic prosperity of the region,” she said.
Local shops participated in the competition, seeing an influx of residents choosing to shop local this Christmas. Congratulations to the winners who shared in the $6000 draw, including: Rod Gee, Noel Clarke, Sid Firrell, Jo Harris, Marianne Wallace and Win Clulow.
